What’s included in your Garden Ark Hardware Quick Kit:
Your pre-shopped, pre-packaged kit includes pounds of quality hardware, comprising three-fourths of the items listed on the materials list for The Garden Ark. These include:
- Fasteners of every type/size needed: screws, nails, nuts, bolts, and washers
- Door hinges, corner braces, and heavy-duty lockable latches
- Roofing screws with washers for attaching corrugated panels
- Poultry fencing staples for attaching hardware cloth (This is the kind you hammer in. If you prefer pneumatic staples, purchase those elsewhere separately to fit your stapler.)
- Custom-cut tubing used in the roof support
- Door spring and galvanized barriers for use above the piers
- OPTIONAL wheel assembly — a pair of 6″ steel hub wheels and the hardware to attach them to your coop
What’s NOT included:
This kit includes the hardware only. There are still some things you’ll need to get:
- Chicken coop plans are sold separately.Â
- Lumber, siding, and plywood
- Roofing panels
- Hardware cloth (a.k.a. wire mesh)
- Paint, stain, or other wood sealer
- Tools
Because many of these items are bulky or individual to your needs, they’re best shopped locally. The materials list included in the plans will show you exactly what you need to get to round out your supplies.
Optional Wheel Kit
As called for in the plans, the 6″ steel hub wheels allow you to tilt and roll The Garden Ark from spot to spot in your yard. If you do not want this added mobility, or if you plan to use a larger wheel size (other modifications required), then pass on the wheels. Otherwise, get them! This is a great price, and even with the added wheel assembly, your kit ships free.

We’ve priced this kit to be comparable to what you’d pay in big box or local hardware stores. Not only is shipping fast and free, but since your hardware kit comes from sales-tax-free Oregon, there’s no sales tax added to the price either.
If you’d like to do your own comparison shopping, you can download the plans separately and return for a kit at any time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Our chicken coop plans come with a detailed materials list, so you’re free to shop for these same items however you’d like. The Quick Kits are offered purely as a convenience and (most likely) savings.
Keeping the plans and kits separate makes it possible for you to get the plans first, then come back for a hardware kit later — without double paying for the plans. Of course, you’re welcome to get them both at the same time too!Â
See the description for a general list of what’s in the kit. A detailed materials list is included in the plans. Suffice it to say, your kit will contain everything you need from that list except the bulky stuff (wood, roofing, paint/sealer, hardware cloth, pier blocks, etc.).
NOTE: On some items in the kit, quantities are less than what’s on the list. For instance, the plans may call for a “1 lb. box” of a certain screw size — that being the smallest package you can get at a hardware store. But if less than a pound is plenty, your kit will contain the amount you need for your coop (plus plenty of extra screws and staples, of course).
There are certain situations where getting a Quick Kit might not be the best option:
- You live outside of the United States. Sorry, we currently ship to addresses and P.O. boxes within the U.S. only.
- You’re not using one of our coop plans. The hardware in the kit is specific to our designs. You will need the plans.
- You intend to make major alterations to the design. Some modification to dimensions and materials should be fine. If you’re planning anything more extensive, get the plans first, then decide on the kit later.
- Your coop will be in a coastal environment and you prefer the corrosion resistance of stainless steel hardware (very pricey) to galvanized or zinc-plated.
- You own a hardware store and can get your materials at cost. We can’t beat that price. 🙂
No! All of our coop plans come with a detailed materials list specific to your chosen design, so you’re free to shop for these same items however you’d like. We offer this kit for your convenience.

Once your payment is processed, you should be taken to a “thank you” page that has a secure download link to your plans. You will also receive an automated email from us containing your download link(s). Click on the download link and save your plans to a memorable location on your computer or device.
If you have an active spam filter, please add “info@thegardencoop.com” to your safe senders list before purchasing. If your confirmation/download email does not appear within fifteen minutes of your completed purchase, please check your junk mailbox.

We ship our chicken coop hardware kits via USPS Priority Mail. Please allow 1–2 days for processing and 2–3 days for delivery.
We ship poultry nipples, brooder bottles, veggie feeders, and coloring books via USPS First Class. Please allow 1–2 business days for processing and 2–3 days for delivery.
We ship bucket nipple waterers via USPS Parcel Select or Priority Mail depending on cost, which varies by destination. Please allow 1–2 business days for processing, 5–7 days for Parcel Select, and 2–3 days for Priority delivery.Â
International orders will incur additional fees, and delivery times will vary based on destination and carrier.Â
We want you to have the best coop and products for you and your chickens.
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, let us know within 30 days, and we will arrange a return and refund.
For digital downloads (e.g., coop plans), email to let us know that you would like a refund, and we’ll send instructions.Â
For kits, waterers, and other tangible items, please open and inspect your items right away! In the event that your item arrives with parts missing or damaged, you must let us know by email within seven (7) business days of receipt. In the case of damage, attach a photo to your email clearly showing the extent of the damage, if possible. We’ll make it right or arrange a refund.
You may return items to us in new, complete condition within 30 days of purchase for a refund of the purchase price, less our initial shipping costs. You will not be charged a re-stocking fee, but you are responsible for return shipping costs.
Email us first to let us know that you’d like to make a return, and we’ll send you further instructions. We’ll issue your refund once we’ve received your item.
Make sure to follow all manufacturers’ instructions when using tools, materials, or equipment — and use the appropriate protective devices when building, such as work gloves, eye and ear protection, boots, etc. Secure your work as you build. Know what you can handle physically as well, and work within your limits.
Remember, do-it-yourself doesn’t have to mean all by yourself. Share the fun of building with your friends, family, and neighbors!
